Fantail Flax Bouquet
The Fantail or “pīwakawaka” in Te Reo (Maori) is a playful, cheeky little songbird found throughout New Zealand forests, orchards and gardens.
It is one of the most common and widely found Native Birds on the New Zealand mainland.
The Fantail is easily recognised – as their name suggests, their black and white tail feathers open and spread out like a fan as they flit about foraging for food.
To celebrate this plucky little bird, our Flax Artist Sema has created a handmade Harakeke (Flax) Bouquet that reflects the colours of the Fantails feathers – black, white, gold and brown.
This hand-tied flax bouquet features black, gold and white flax flowers, as well as black, white and brown Hapene leaves, and is wrapped in natural hessian and black abaca.
This flax floral arrangement is an ideal alternative to fresh flowers, as a lasting gift that is uniquely “New Zealand”. It would also look right at home in a corporate setting as an alternative to flowers in a
Reception area for instance.
The Fantail Flax Bouquet is available in 3 sizes
Small: Contains approx 10 flax flowers. Length approx 50cm
Medium: Contains approx 20 flax flowers. Length approx 70cm
Large: Contains approx 30 flax flowers. Length approx 90cm
