Flax Flowers and Romance - School Ball Season is in the Air!

School Ball Season is in the Air!

‘Love Blooms Eternal’ - a wonderful saying that is so appropriate for flax flower corsages during Ball Season, for our flax flowers are so long lasting that - if they are cared for, they really can present a lasting memory of one of life’s most memorable ‘first’s’ in the adult world – the first crush. First romance. First maybe love. Exciting and memorable.

Attending School Ball is a huge event in the life of a teenager, and has been for generations. The Dress, The Hair, The Makeup, The Suit – and of course – The Corsage.

The age old tradition of the boy presenting his date with a small bouquet of flowers has lasted through the ages and is one of the few that has. The term Corsage in fact comes from medieval times, originally from a French term ‘Bouquet de Corsage’ meaning Bodice Flowers.

In ancient times, small bouquets of flowers were pinned to the centre of the bodice or corsage of a woman’s dress for special occasions such as weddings or formal dances to ward off evil spirits. The evil spirits are no longer part of the equation, but the flower adornment for the dress remains.

As times changed over the centuries, the fashion moved to strapping the Corsage to the wrist – as is often the case nowadays, and no flower is more suited to this Duty of Romance than the Artiflax Flax Flower Corsage!

We take the Corsage to another level, and transform it into a gorgeous accessory to the dress – a beautiful, memorable accessory to be kept and treasured as the future memory of a special evening with a first Beau - or Bae as they say in current teenager language. Flax flower corsages are elegant art for the wrist – five steps ahead of the iWatch, don’t you think?

This year is really special for flax flower corsages, and we are a little bit excited. This year for the first time, we are scenting our corsages. You can even buy a top up scent if you wish to – but you probably won’t need it for weeks, as the scent will last long after other flowers have moved past their prime. This brings our flax flower, or harakeke corsages in to a whole new realm: the scented flax flower that lasts longer than any other! The hazy memory for the future of the first magic ball, with the first suited boy, and the beautiful  corsage on your wrist – the corsage smelling perfectly amazing... well, that dream just came true.
